Here are my photos from the day I’ve spent with the fashion photographer Michael David Adams from New York. The occasion was the workshop inside the beautiful and unique Hotel Lone in Rovinj, Croatia.
The Lone Hotel is very particular: its interior design reminds a lot the famous Guggenheim Museum in New York. It ‘s impossible to not fall in love with this architecture!!
The workshop with Michael David Adams was a wonderful experience, a great opportunity to learn from a big name in the international fashion business.
Michael works primarily in New York doing photo shoots for editorials and commercial. During the day, Michael explained to us his creative approach to shooting, going through planning on paper to find the right mood for the shot to organize the set and think about the correct post-production.
Then was our moment! In total we were ten photographers selected through a little contest; it was so interesting to be there with other guys who came from Serbia, Slovenia, and Croatia. Each of us had about 30 minutes of time to shoot pictures and a model to choose between the two girls present during that day. We also had a large wardrobe to choose the clothes to be worn by the girls.
For my shots, I chose to play with the geometric lines of the building. I chose to shots from below with wide angle to enhance the sense of movement of the architecture.
At the end our shooting sessions, we reviewed all our photographs with a fast post-production done in Lightroom. Michael and Victoria (his partner in life, and the excellent make-up artist of the day) have expressed their opinions on the images produced with an interesting and constructive criticism for each of us.
It has been a really interesting day and I want to thanks the “Photo Days” to have organized this event!
I’ve shot the following photos using the Samsung Nx-20 and the 85mm f/1.4 +20mm f/2.8
I suggest you to give a look at the backstage photographs I took in the beautiful hotel Lone in Croatia during the Photo Days in Rovinj:
