Lucca Photo Lux Festival 2013, a photographer look
Posted on Nove 28, 2013
There are a lot of interesting photography exhibitions in Tuscany.
After having recently completed the photography festival in Fucecchio, Saturday 23rd November 2013 has been opened the new edition of Lucca Photo Festival.
It’s an important edition ‘cause it sees the re-open of this important event after the break of last year. Under the new name “Photo-Lux Festival”, the festival proposes for three weeks over eighteen exhibitions of the biggest names in international photography.
It ’s a unique opportunity for all ‘cause the quality of the single exhibitions are extremely high.
There’s also worth mentioning that during “Photo-Lux Festival ” in Lucca you can visit the World Press Photo exhibition that brings together the best shots of photojournalism taken in 2013.
Among the many exhibits, those who have left us the most impressed were the exhibitions of the photographer Irene Kung which presents images of known architectures, reinterpreted in a new personal way: the buildings in her photographs become an object isolated from their context, illuminated by a new and unreal light, in some cases almost like a light on the stage.
We found great poetry also in the pictures of Christopher Thomas, showing an unusual New York incredibly empty, without the ordinary traffic and crowd; the exhibition was presented on beautiful large format prints on Fine Art paper.
Like every festival Photo Festival in Lucca, for me, the greatest charm is the exhibitions presented at the Ducal Palace. This year it houses the exhibits of ” PhotoVogue ” (selection of the best shots from the online section of Vogue), the exhibition by Luca Campigotto and the exhibition of big prints of Massimo Vitali.
About Vitali, inside a room, you will find a curious and pleasant surprise. Check the photo below to find more about it… 🙂
