Here are some photos from the session with Azzurra in the Chianti area in Tuscany.
This was also an occasion to test the Canon 6D with the smallest lens available to the EF – mount: the 40mm pancake from Canon!
It’s a very amazing lens considering how small and qualitative is this lens, and the very low price (around 150€). It’s a class a lens called “pancake” since is very thin so once is placed on the camera, you get a very light and portable setup. The maximum aperture is f/2.8 so we can get enough light and a nice background bokeh, especially when we shot on full frame camera as the Canon 6D I’ve used on this shooting.
Talking about the focal length, 40mm on the full-frame seam a bit shorter than the usually suggested portrait length. But I can suggest this focal length to shot (like I did in this session) a bit more the figure with the environment around.
Placed on the Canon APS-C camera, the lens becomes a 60mm a bit more for narrow portraits.
I really suggest this Canon 40mm f/2.8 pancake lens to all the Canon photographers for portrait and street photography. In this way, you can have a small, flexible but qualitative lens always with you!

Posted at 21:17h, 11 SeptemberThis is awesome! I have been debating switching from my Nikon D5300 with a 35mm 1.8 to this setup, but I have been skeptical about how well this would function as a portrait lens. After seeing these pictures, I feel confident in switching to this setup. Thank you for sharing.
